The Corporation

The Wisdom Fund is nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We received tax-exempt status in 1995. Donors may deduct contributions as provided in U.S. Code § 170 — EIN 54-1755689.

Mission

The Wisdom Fund advances truth, justice, peace.

Philosophy

John Stuart Mill (1806 - 73) — most influential English language philosopher of the nineteenth century: "He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion... Nor is it enough that he should hear the opinions of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations. He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them...he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form."

Directors

The Bylaws provide for five directors whose primary duty is to raise funds to accomplish corporate objectives, and to assure the highest standards of integrity in all activities of The Wisdom Fund.

The founding Director is Enver Masud. The late Dr. Ayub K. Ommaya served on the Board from 1997 through 2005. Kevin Barrett and Mauri Saalakhan joined the Board on January 1, 2010. Mauri Saalakhan stepped down from the Board early 2013.

Name, Values, Logo

logo Our name and values (Timeless Wisdom for Lasting Community) were inspired by Huston Smith author of The Illustrated World's Religions — A Guide To Our Wisdom Traditions. To paraphrase Prof. Smith: "If you take the best of the enduring world religions, you have the distilled wisdom of the human race." We make no claim to wisdom. We seek, attempt to apply, and share "the distilled wisdom of the human race" — a gift to all of us.

Source/Use of Funds

Your donations, sponsorship of our advertising, and income from books and posters are our sole source of funds. All work is done free by volunteers. The president's salary is $1 per year.
