Beginning March 10, I understand that you will hold hearings to
examine "the disconnect between outstanding Muslims who contribute so
much to the future of our country and those leaders who -- for whatever
reason -- acquiesce in terror or ignore the threat".
I agree such hearings are long overdue -- American Muslim leaders, have
for too long acquiesced in acts of terrorism.
Our ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, our not so covert war on
Pakistan, the covert wars authorized by Presidents Bush and Obama in as many
as 75 countries, have killed more than one million innocent citizens,
wounded and maimed many more, and left families and cities devastated.
Terrorism on such a grand
scale, together with the torture and imprisonment without trial in America
(and in that no man's land -- Guantanamo), should have had Muslims out in
public squares across America.
We did have some demonstrations, but nothing like the crowds in Tahrir
Square, and across Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen -- and they're still
demonstrating there while here in the good old USA our Muslim leaders
continue to "acquiesce in terror".
Which brings us to your concern: radicalized Muslims.
Of course, there are radicalized Muslims. They're rising up against the
tyrants supported by those who have made a sham of American values, and
against those who have helped these tyrants steal the wealth of their
citizens and deposit it in American and European banks.
What took American Muslims so long to get sufficiently radicalized to
gain your attention?
American Muslims have also acquiesced to that other big act of terrorism
committed on our sacred soil. As a representative of the people of New York,
you know the one I'm talking about -- 9/11.
Thousands, perhaps millions, of concerned Americans, but not those
leaders who -- for whatever reason -- acquiesce in terror, support your
efforts to bring the 9/11 terrorists, and their ilk, to justice.
By now you may have heard that "The 9/11 Commission Report" was foisted
upon the good American people by those who "acquiesce in terror".
According to
Philip Shenon (an investigative reporter with The New York Times), with
the 9/11 commission's staff barely in place, Philip Zelikow, the
commission's executive director, and Ernest R. May, a Harvard historian, had
prepared a detailed outline, complete with "chapter headings, subheadings,
and sub-subheadings" of the final report.
Imagine that -- Zelikow and May knew where the investigation would lead
even before they heard the witnesses! One of those witnesses was
honored by Hillary Clinton, your own former governor George Pataki, and by
President Bush. Pretty radical, I'd say.
Zelikow and May did not fool our FBI. To this day the FBI says that
they have no hard evidence that bin Laden was behind 9/11. He's not wanted
for 9/11 in the FBI's "Most
Wanted Terrorists" poster.
Those radicals didn't fool many Americans either -- some undoubtedly
from your own district.
Two thousand plus
engineers, architects, military and intelligence personnel, scientists,
pilots, and professors do not believe the official account of 9/11. Many of
them (and I) are prepared to present facts (official transcripts, exhibits,
photographs, videos, etc), to argue this point.
You can download my brief expose "9/11 Unveiled" free from The
Wisdom Fund web site -- I've mailed a hard copy to you and every member of
your Homeland Security Committee.
God-speed with the hearings, Mr. King. Do us proud, like the good old
days. Root out those leaders who acquiesce in terror. Hang 'em from a tall
oak tree.
[ . . . according to FBI statistics less than six percent of terrorist
incidents during this fifteen year period were committed by Muslims, while
94% were committed by non-Muslims. Moreover, 23 of the 24 recorded terrorist
incidents (2002-2005) were carried out by domestic terrorists. The FBI claims
that of the 83 terrorist attacks in the United States between 9/11 and the
end of 2009, only three were clearly connected with the jihadist cause.
(3.6% of total)
The picture is similar in Europe. Of a total of 1,571 terrorist attacks in
the E.U. from 2006-2008 only 6 were committed by Islamist terrorists which
translates to less than 0.4% of all attacks, which means 99.6% of all
attacks were committed by Non-Muslims.--Franklin Lamb, "Congressman Peter King's Great Muslim
Scare," veteranstoday.com, March 12, 2011]
[Rarely has the United States seen a more reckless and bare-knuckled
campaign to vilify a distinct class of people and compromise their
fundamental civil and human rights than the recent rhetoric against
Muslims.
It would also be hard to imagine a more successful campaign. In the span of
the two years since the start of Barack Obama's presidency in early 2009, an
astonishing number of people have turned into a kind of political wolf pack,
convinced that 0.6% of the U.S. population is on the verge of trampling the
Constitution and imposing an Islamic, Shariah-guided caliphate in its place.
Like the communists that an earlier generation believed to be hiding behind
every rock, infiltrated "Islamist" operatives today are said to be
diabolically preparing for a forcible takeover.
Ironically, the Constitution seems more threatened by certain Americans who,
prodded into paranoia by clever activists, opportunistic politicians and
guileful media players, seem downright eager to deny Muslims the guarantees
of religious freedom and the presumption of innocence.--Robert Steinback,
"Jihad Against Islam,"

enemy. All of them,"--Drew Griffin and Kathleen Johnston, "'Ex-
terrorist' rakes in homeland security bucks, cnn.com, July 14, 2011]
[In the commentary on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, . . . Absent from the
torrent of opinion and analysis was any mention of how the U.S. military
occupation of Muslim lands and wars that continue to kill Muslim civilians
fuel jihadist sentiment that will keep the threat of terrorism high for many
years to come.--Gareth Porter, "Elephant in the Room: The Terrorism Issue That Wasn't
Discussed, counterpunch.org, September 12, 2011]
One repeat witness who testified at King's hearings was Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, the
president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and the narrator of The Third
Jihad, a right-wing documentary considered so biased against Muslims that the New York
City Police Department was forced to stop using it in its counterterrorism
training.--James Risen, "Pay Any Price:
Greed, Power, and Endless War," Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (October 14, 2014)
